Before all the colleges ruined Allston, it was the best place in Boston! hands down. Allston use to be families from all races,& religions that all got along...until students/bands moved in and the schools* started buying all the property and sitting on it for 30-40+ years and then having property values soar!! so we all either sold, moved, died, and we let the idiots take over.
Flight of families away from the city is not unique to Allston. This is happening all over the city. The difference is that in Allston there is heavy demand for housing from students and immigrants without whom, Allston would have been turned into an inner city type place as is the rest of Boston.

What they're trying to say is that Lower Allston is like the Mission Hill of Boston?

Proud to send my kids to public elementary school in Allston
My 3 kids go to the Gardner Pilot Academy in Allston (K1, 1st grade, 3rd grade). My wife, kids, and I consider it an excellent school.
