Friend of third murder victim in coma
By adamg on Tue, 04/16/2013 - 8:16pm
The South China Morning Post reports that among the injured yesterday is Zhou Danling, a graduate student at Boston University.
The Chinese consulate in New York reports she is in stable condition but that a second Chinese national died in the bombings.
Boston University Today did not identify either victim, but reported the murder victim was also a BU graduate student and went to the race with two other friends, one of whom required surgery and was in stable condition.

the diameter of the bomb
The news about the Chinese students, and the WHDH photos showing such a small blast radius made me remember the following poem:
The Diameter of the Bomb
by Yehuda Amichai
The diameter of the bomb was thirty centimeters
and the diameter of its effective range about seven meters,
with four dead and eleven wounded.
And around these, in a larger circle
of pain and time, two hospitals are scattered
and one graveyard. But the young woman
who was buried in the city she came from,
at a distance of more than a hundred kilometers,
enlarges the circle considerably,
and the solitary man mourning her death
at the distant shores of a country far across the sea
includes the entire world in the circle.
And I won’t even mention the crying of orphans
that reaches up to the throne of God and
beyond, making a circle with no end and no God.
Thank you. I love you Boston,
Thank you. I love you Boston, hang in there
That is a sad and wonderful
That is a sad and wonderful poem, which really brought things home. Thank you.
Even though I was there to
Even though I was there to witness what happened, it didn't really sink in until today. My heart goes out to all the families that are suffering from this tragedy.
Thinking of you and all who
Thinking of you and all who were there. Be safe and take care of yourself.
Delayed Reactions
Horrible, just horrible.
It really sank in this morning when I saw a photo of the scene from some time before the bomb went off. A friend of mine, who left shortly before it went off, was in the photo.
I came that close to losing members of my community and neighborhood and daily life. That close.
So terrible for those whose near and dear ones didn't have such a fabulous guardian angel.
