A city on edge: It was a bird, not something else, that exploded in Hyde Park
By adamg on Thu, 04/18/2013 - 1:02pm
At 12:42, State Police tweeted:
Report of explosion at Hyde Park Commuter Rail station is unfounded. Bird flew into overhead power lines. Responding units called off.
Ed. note: I was listening to Boston Fire on the scanner at the time, and they were just responding to a report of smoke underneath the River Street bridge - which was gone when they got there - not an explosion.

Smoke under a bridge needs to
Smoke under a bridge needs to be checked out, but there needs to be a balance where people are noticing and reporting truly suspicious activity but not freaking out every time (for example) there's some dust in the street or they hear people talking in another language. I feel like we've had almost 12 years to develop this attitude and we haven't been doing such a great job.
Just another government
Just another government conspiracy to take our away our bird owning privileges. Do you think the bird was foreign, or domestic? Clue: Obama wants you to think the bird was domestic.
When exploding bird is good journalism, we're in a weird way.
The story.
