The vampires descend, but then again, they always do

Aziz Ansari is doing a benefit for bombing victims at the Wilbur Theatre this Sunday. Tickets went on sale at noon today. And, of course, resellers are already trying to make a buck off tickets. At 12:54, the Wilbur warned:

PLEASE DO NOT BUY BROKERED TICKETS FOR THE AZIZ SHOW!
People trying to profiting off of this special benefit show are disgusting.

We are taking action as we speak.

I heard the price for a ticket skyrocketed through the roof...

obviously haven't been watching how the Bruins play lately.

As Rick Harrison (Pawn Stars) often says to customers - That's what they're asking. Now, what are they getting?

Sell tickets in advance (for cash flow and to gauge the size of the expected crowd), but then require the purchaser to show up in person to claim the tickets only immediately before the event opens.

People who care about this should go on craigslist and flag the resale of these tickets, or flood the vampires trying to profit off of terrorism with emails.

The foundation made their money simply by me (or anyone else) purchasing the tickets originally. Because I'm donating 25% of my profit from these, they are making MORE money than if someone else had bought the tickets originally. Who loses here?

Wotta douche!

Highest bidder for a show or anything else.

Otherwise I see the logic of the resellers.

In a perfect world they'd donate what they made on top but if there were no resellers and every original buyer went to show the night's take would be the same.

Nothing to be proud of reselling but I don't see the harm to the foundation.

the people who want to attend but can't afford your inflated price for the tickets.

What do you mean by "inflated" price? The tickets are going to sell for what they're worth.

doesn't this actually help the bomb victims, because the brokers bought up the tickets and guaranteed a sellout, even if no one rebuys the tickets?

In reality, I think they should donate their proceeds as well, so if they sell a $50 ticket for $70, and they turn a $15 profit, they should donate that $15 back to the theatre. Doubt they will, though, but they should.

Please join me in responding to all craiglisters selling over the $47 face value, enthusiastically setting up bogus meetings that I of course will not show up to

The theater sold the tickets for less than they are worth, creating the opportunity for scalpers.

The Wilbur and Ansari wanted to raise money by selling X tickets for Y dollars. Sounds like they did that. Mission accomplished, everyone's happy. Why do we care what happens to the tickets afterwards?

If they didn't want re-sales, either price the tickets better, or set up a system where ticket holders have to give their name and show an ID.
