John Pinette, who according to the Internets grew up around here, used to do a bit in his comedy routine about the singles nights Vons in California used to host.
I paraphrase: do you have any idea how embarrassing it is to have to call a friend and say "dude, I need you to give me a lift. I've had too much to drink. I'm at Vons."
