UPDATE: NECN reports the three were found trying to cross into Canada at Niagara Falls.
At Blue Mass Group, David compares how the Globe and the Herald wrote up the initial story of those three Afghan army officers who disappeared from the Cape Cod Mall over the weekend. One guess which paper mentioned how rogue Afghan soldiers are now killing Americans in Afghanistan.

it was an honest mistake, they must have taken the wrong turn somewhere. Its not like it was pre planed, anyone could accidentally make it to the Canadian boarder from the Cape . Happens all the time!

After their Provincetown weddings, the gents headed to Niagara Falls for a fabulous honeymoon!
That's the only explanation, right?
Cheers!

Both the Globe & the Herald report true facts.
The soldiers did have passports and US visas. (fyi, Fingerprints were waived.)
Afghan soldiers have killed Americans in Afghanistan.
We should have never let them in

and we should have never gone to war in Afghanistan or Iraq. Totally FUBAR. The real culprits behind 9/11 (2 Middle East countries) are ostensibly friendly allies to the U.S. It's one of the great scandals and crimes of the past 100 years.
No foubt these characters would have ended up driving cabs in Toronto.

that make me wish there was a dislike button.
You don't think officers of armies from the Middle East weren't being allowed into the US pre-9/11? What about diplomats? Should we not all "them" in either?
I meant let them in

as a p.consequence of our war in Afghanistan. They of course are free to enter the U.S. like anyone else, normal restrictions applicable, and visa requirements.
The rest of my post stands,as is.

If they made it up to the CA side of the border, and claimed asylum, I think you're right. They would be turned round and sent back to the US.
Not really

They changed things a few years back.
Manitoba is about the only province that is actively welcoming immigrants - the others are in line with the hardliners in their federal government and putting up as many hurdles as possible.

ask yourselves, who among us hasn't felt pulled inextricably northward by the temptations of poutine and labatt?
