West Roxbury teen was set to plead guilty to horrific Arborway crash - until he learned he'd have to spend time in jail

The Globe reports on a hearing this morning in West Roxbury District Court for Nikolas Papadopoulos, charged with causing a crash that sent six people to the hospital last year - permanently injuring two of them, one a Dorchester father of three, the other just 14 at the time.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports that because he withdrew his plea, Papadopoulos is now scheduled for trial in March.

After all
Where is there a judge that would give him jail time for hurting six people with a car?
Read the story
Seems he thought his plea deal would have let him off without any time at all, but then the judge watched a video made by the family of the now severely disabled father and said there was no way the kid would not be spending some time behind bars.
To Clarify
There was no deal -- prosecutors recommended jail time and the judge was prepared to impose it. The defendant opted for trial instead, as is his right.
But
You think a violent young thug should be handed a union job? God you're a hypocrite.
You keep using that word...
Perceived inconsistency does not constitute hypocrisy. You could look it up.
While I support....
...sending people to jail for injuring and killing others through reckless motor vehicle operation, where is the effort to PREVENT these types of accidents?
More Jail Time
If the consequences for this sort of thing were much worst (many, many years in jail, permanent and livelong license revoke, huge payout to surviving family, etc) perhaps people would be less inclined to drive recklessly.
The deuce you say.
The deuce you say.
A year for ruining all those lives
yet this little pussy couldn't do it. So now he goes to trial where hopefully he ends up with more time. Though I doubt it, considering what you get for doing anything involving a car in this state.
You want to murder someone in the U.S.
Do it with a car; you will for all intents and purposes practically get away with it, if you get caught. Forget about King Cotton, it's King Auto.
