$600,000 worth of camera lenses stolen from Concord company

LensProToGo, which rents high-end camera gear, reports somebody spent some serious time smashing a large hole in a wall to rob its Baker Avenue Extension warehouse over the weekend. They've posted a list of the stolen lenses and their serial numbers - so if somebody offers you a good deal on a lens, take a look at the serial number first. They add:
We hope they at least got to wear cool Mission Impossible outfits, but we sadly aren’t sure of that detail.

A real shame for a great local company
Paul and his group are amazing people and have built that business from what felt like a closet. I hope they catch the bastards.
On a related note, EP Levine in Waltham was also hit, but doesn't appear to have lost anything as they believe the burglars were scared off by the alarm.

On a positive note we are doing a photo shoot at my club soon and will need to rent some equipment. Went to the site and looks like they will be a great supplier for our event. May be able to refer some biz as well.

I had also never heard of them, but it's good to know that there's someplace local to try before I buy my next piece of L glass.
(Also, holy cow, that's a lot of expensive gear stolen!)

BorrowLenses has a location in Waltham too. I've never actually rented camera gear from anyone but I hear they are good too.
timing
Apparently most of their inventory was out on rentals. If you're going to rob a camera gear rental company, a weekend in June is approximately the worst time you could do it.
These serial numbers will
These serial numbers will turn up eventually and then chances are the thieves will be caught. Last summer I was approached a few times by a sleazy guy in the Fens who wanted to sell me me his friend's high-end camera equipment. Yeah right. Needless to say I said no. I'd recommend the LensProToGo guys hang out in the Fens, Victory Gardens to be specific, with a nice camera and they'll be offered stolen lenses soon enough.
Think about it for a second
Somebody ripping off a large quantity of really pro photo and cinematic lenses won't be fencing them from their trunk in the Fens.
My guess is that they are headed for China and the growing middle class market there, where people also don't care about copyrights on software, music, and movies.

I feel like anywhere that owns, sells and rents lots of gear should lock up extra securely. Camera stores, photo studios, universities... if you buy or acquire any gear that was stolen, CPS and other manufacturer's warranty programs have a detailed log of the serial numbers linked to local authorized repair centers and dealers. Most likely you will have to return the previously stolen merch even if you did pay for it.
