Area blue jays were not amused
By adamg on Sat, 06/27/2015 - 12:53pm
The other day, LadyLazerJ spotted these two hawks perched outside her office on Hampshire Street in Kendall Square - where they stayed for about two hours.
They were seriously pissing off the blue jays.

Atleast some one is
Red Sox are dead last and the Jays are in fourth.
But...
...where is Seattle? Bill doesn't care...
they look like young'uns...beautiful.
Adorable!
Please come eat rabbit in the Fenway
Red tails are the urban gardener's friend.
Beautiful!
I do have to admit, though, that I get a kick out of watching other birds mob them.
blue jays
In my backyard (Southie) the crows and blue jays were always the aggressors among the birds.
Someone tougher comes along (the hawks) and there's a new pecking order in the hood!
Blue Jays are avian bullies
I really don't like them.
Super Clannish
They rear two broods a year, the first brood hangs around to help with the second.
One year, my cat came upon a second brood baby bird that had fallen from the nest. It was already dead. However, the blue jays decided that the cat was entirely to blame, and made his life miserable for at least a month. The damn things would even follow him into the house!
You mess with one blue jay, you have messed with every blue jay. From there on out, your name is $&*#&?%, every last bird will dedicate its life to attacking you, and you will NEVER live it down!
THE GREAT BLUE JAY BIRD
My window feeder is visited by about 6 Blue Jays every day..I love them crazy birds..funny when the scout they send calls the others when i put the food..also when they want the other birds to move away and imitate a hawk...they are handsome rascals..and very intelligent..Only on food emergencies they eat the eggs of other birds..only 1 percent of them do that..Tree Rats eat a lot of birds and people like them disgusting rats..
Hawks aren't all that
Still remember the time a neighbor and I were chatting when we saw a brown streak zoom by followed by a large black blob - a hawk being chased by a mob (well, murder, I guess) of crows.
Do jays imitate hawks?
Many times I'll hear what sounds like a hawk screaming from a tree and will finally target the sound as a blue jay. It really does sound very raptor-like--does anyone know why? They also make that noise that sounds like a rusty pulley, along with their usual call.
