In case you've been wondering

what all those orange spots on the track between Wyoming and Wakefield stations on the Haverhill/Reading Line denote.

To All of Our Haverhill Line Customers
TRACK WORK NOTICE - Effective August 24th- October 23rd, 2015
Due to necessary rail improvements, the MBTA Commuter Rail will be suspending train service between Boston and Reading during the hours of 9:00am and 3:30pm Monday-Friday beginning Monday, August 24, 2015.

Passengers traveling between Boston and Reading should utilize MBTA buses 136/137 from Malden Station. The schedule for buses 136/137 can be found here: http://www.mbta.com/uploadedFiles/Documents/Schedules_and_Maps/Bus/route...(1).pdf?led=6/30/2015%201:53:02%20PM

Passengers traveling to Ballardvale, Andover, Lawrence, Bradford and Haverhill WILL have train service. Trains will operate via the Lowell Line from North Station to Ballardvale and points north.

For Inbound passengers traveling to intermediate stations between North Wilmington and Malden Center, a shuttle bus will be used to connect passengers to MBTA buses 136/137 at Reading Station. Passengers will utilize a shuttle bus from Ballardvale Station.

For Outbound passengers traveling from intermediate stations to points North of Ballardvale, a shuttle bus will connect them with their destination station on the line.

The following trains are impacted with this work:

INBOUND
210: 9:05am from Haverhill
212: 9:44am from Haverhill*
214: 12:00pm from Haverhill
218: 2:40pm from Haverhill
*Train 212 will be bused from Haverhill to Bradford to connect with train service.

OUTBOUND

205: 10:30am from North Station
207: 12:20pm from North Station
209: 1:20pm from North Station
211: 3:00pm from North Station

Hopefully, they'll also completely pull up the track bed and ballast through Melrose Cedar Park Station and replace it, as it's currently sitting in a bed of weeds.
