Cherry blossoms on Boston Common

Boston snapped these cherry blossoms on Boston Common today.

Ed. note: A lot less glamorous, but down the street from us, somebody's yard is full of dandelions.

On the Reddit thread on the same topic, someone pointed out that this is a particular species of cherry tree called Autumn flowering cherry trees that periodically blooms during patches of warmer temperatures during the autumn/winter. A fall bloom doesn't impact the trees' ability to bloom again in the springtime.

Apparently these trees are in bloom on the national mall in DC as well....

That looks like the corner of Arlington & Boylston. Seems the original tweet mislabeled the location. Nice pic in any case.

As I was raking up the last of the fall leaves yesterday, I saw that the irises are starting to grow and there were green buds on the lilac bush.

I've also seen a lot of rose bushes that are still blooming. Hurray global warming!

....only in the old Bloom County comic strip, with one of the characters doing a belly flop onto a patch of them.
