Expanding Chinese restaurant in Roslindale wins beer and wine license

The Boston Licensing Board last week granted Seven Star Street Bistro on Belgrade Avenue permission to buy the beer, wine and liqueurs license from Estragon on Harrison Avenue in the South End.

At the same time, the board awarded Estragon a full-alcohol license under a state law granting Boston extra licenses for certain traditionally under-licensed neighborhoods and city "Main Street" business districts.

Seven Star was ineligible for one of the newer licenses because it's several blocks outside the Roslindale Village Main Street district. Owner Christopher Lin has been building a dining room for Seven Star, which opened in 2011 with takeout only.

Good for them. It's ridiculous that this was even an issue. I also think it's time for Roslindale Main Streets to realize that Belgrade is actually a main street.
