Fire rages in West Roxbury two-family; three firefighters injured
A fire that spread from the second floor to the attic at 74 Manthorne Rd., quickly went to two alarms after it was reported around 1:10 p.m.
High winds around the house, at the top of a hill, did not help. The Boston Fire Department reports the wind drove the fire through the attic.
About 25 minutes after they arrived, Boston firefighters were ordered out of the building as a precaution. Three firefighters were taken to Faulkner Hospital; none of their injuries are considered life threatening, the department says.
The department reports the bulk of the fire was knocked down around 1:55 p.m. Damage was estimated at $750,000.
