One of the things I loved about watching "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" was all the factories he visited, showing how people made so many of the objects in our everyday lives. Sadly, many of those manufacturers have moved overseas, so those jobs no longer exist.

The Corning Glass factory that made Corelle plates is featured in Episode 1686. Fred calls them "really strong plates". It's available to watch for free on Amazon Prime:

First off. Elmer writes unique, interesting stuff, which we love.

Secondly, It's Uhub. We're always going off topic here

Third, did ya see the box of Corelle in the photo?

If my autobiography said I was born in Kenya, people might think I was born in Kenya.

But I digress...

at South Bay Shopping Center. Went to find simple, cheap, plastic, stackable letter trays for my office. Couldn't find them at either Target or Office Max. Everything was picked over. Made me wonder if inventory is intentionally kept low.

First two times last week I stopped by, place was full of kids that didn't really look like they needed a haircut.

Third time was at about 9:04 AM. Bingo.

Because right wing nutjob birthertruthers need haircuts.

I watched one UPS driver in the Back Bay piling things on his hand truck like it was Christmas week and deliver it to one of the student rental buildings. Guess Mom and Dad have found another way to shop for the new apartment.

of thinking I could quickly grab a few things at the Kenmore Staples yesterday. I thought I would be able run in and out in the ten minutes before my doctor's appointment next door. I was very wrong.

BTW, sadly, Corelle now is not the same Corelle as back in the 80's (anyone else have lazy daisy growing up?). The process/materials are different and not as strong.

my kid picked up some at a garage sale and I told him you can never break them; he dropped one on a linoleum floor and it shattered in a 14 pieces. not your grandma's corelle

Corelle breaking injuries. They can be found in Amazon reviews, too: apparently the new, made in China ones spontaneously break with minimal provocation and have left people with some gnarly cuts.

Did you guys see the Boston-themed tees and tchotchkes, designed by a native Iowan, by way of NYC? Article says the designer got inspiration by going to the Cheers bar. Saw them at the Fenway target, they're awful.

Those shirts make me want to offer a bounty. Anyone who can prove they punched someone in the side of the head, specifically for wearing one of those shirts, gets cash money.

My daughter has recently started watching Mr Rogers - not the reincarnated "Daniel Tigers Neighborhood" but the original.

I love it
