Star Wars fans are all wet

Ellie shows us the line of people waiting around 5:15 p.m. to get into the first screenings of the new Star Wars movies at the AMC Loews Boston Common, set for 7 p.m. She notes she and friends got there at 2, which is good, because the line now stretches past the outbound entrance to the Boylston T stop.

A tale of two cities
The scene across town at the Regal theater in the Fenway (at Landmark) was quite different. When we arrived (around 8:20) for our 11;10 showing, there was a group of maybe 10 people in front of us, who were there for the 10:40 and 10:50 showings. The line started growing at around 9 or so, but they let everyone in an hour before each showing, so it moved fairly quickly. This was out on the street, not inside the theater.
I wonder if there was a big difference and, if so, why.
There were three or four police officers there, not that it helped or hurt.

That's why everyone went to the Boston Common instead of the Fenway theater. However, I have also heard that neither place has the actual 70mm version that is the best quality version. Only a small selection of cities, not even NYC, has such:

70 mm version?
Surely Star Wars wasn't shot on 70 mm. They made a huge deal out of Quentin Tarantino doing that with The Hateful 8 and it's only showing in actual 70 mm in a few theaters around the country.
