Where they drop their Rs in Oslo
Ari Ofsevit introduces us to O'Leary's, a Boston sports bar at the Oslo airport.
Gabi Schaffzin notes:
Be sure to get the Nomar burger.
Prairie Rose Clayton reports:
I've been there and let me tell you that is confusing as hell when you are jet-lagged after flying there from Boston.
Seems there once was a lad from Sweden, who spent a summer on Nantucket, where he met and fell in love with a local girl, whose name was, of course, O'Leary. They got married, moved back to Sweden and opened a Boston-themed sports bar, as one does. And it took off and now there are Boston sports bars from Oslo to China.
Even today, Jonas travels over to Boston to buy decor for the chain's restaurants. He also organises a yearly trip to Boston with all the franchise operators from all over the world, so that they themselves get to experience the original, to be smitten by the passion and to return home with a "green, O'Learys heart"

There are no Rs in "Oslo."
Jerry Remy
..would just add an R at the end, as he does with "arenar" and "tropicanar".
Oslor.
I wonder if they're covered by
Ameeker Insurance.
The misconception of the Boston Accent
It's Ameeka Rinsurance. If the R was at the end we wouldn't pronounce it.
My West Coast wife helped me make sense of it. We can't end with a vowel and begin with another vowel, so the R comes into play.
K but
why is there a Missouri license plate front-and-center above the Ted Williams Way sign?
Did someone not pay attention to any of the license plates on their corporate Boston retreat?
reporting in from hanoi...
Where there is a new Boston-themed sports bar called O'Learys! I haven't been in yet, but I know they have a framed photo of Gronk. I will walk down and check it out.
