Who the dead were

The Globe introduces us to Darwin Wilson Adilas and Angel Oller, shot to death in Boston, Rasaun Nichols, shot to death in Cambridge and Ashlee Berryman, shot to death in Everett. The Herald tells us a bit about Andrew Reed, shot with Oller in Egleston Square.

The Herald talks to neighbors in Mattapan, where Adilas and two other men were shot.

Top notch reporting by the Globe. They couldn't be bothered to get any info on the fifth victim?

The information about how a guy loved life and was full of joy seems irrelevant to the crime.

It is important to recognize the victims were human individuals -- and not just faceless statistics.

None of these people got killed because they loved life or helped kids stay off the streets. Who doesn't love life?

Perhaps when/if the shooters are caught, we will find out why the victims were shot, but for now we know that 5 people are dead. The reporter decided to look beyond that cold statistic to note that the people who died were just that, people.

It's like those 2 guys Aaron Hernandez executed (allegedly) in the South End. A car full of Cape Verdean guys coming from the club late at night. It must be gangs, right? Except that it was not. Conley had some really nice things to say about those victims after charges were filed, and he knew what good guys they were from dealing with the families during the process. It would have been nice if that kind of stuff made it into the papers earlier.
