The path is a cultural mix of ladies from Newton in yoga pants and young men from Moody St in Waltham. You wonder why women run in traffic on the Charles.
I was cycling home from work and passed through this specific part of the trail while the search was happening. I saw two unmarked vehicles on the trail, then when I made it to the other end there were two more cruisers. As I kept riding, four more cops came screaming down the road with their sirens on. I inquired about it on Reddit and apparently neighbors in Newton had been told it was a fight between two homeless men. I thought that the police response was a bit extreme for that. The trail has been noticeably more sketchy this year. I pass several homeless people sleeping on the benches each day. Hopefully they can clean it up.
More fallout from the closure of Long Island and the metro region's longstanding practice of exiling undesirables to Boston for social services instead of taking care of their own.

Yikes
I've gone running along that very path many times. Always thought it was safe during the day...

Yoga pants turns men into
Yoga pants turns men into rapists? WTF are you talking about. And Moody Street is at least a mile away.
I'm a racist
and I'm blaming the victim
Interesting how event was missed by media
As awful as this is for the victim, the article is interesting in that it gives a hint why nothing has been reported.
Glad they caught the perpetrator.
Many violent crimes
go un-reported, or only get a passing, minor mention.
Public area
This is a very public area that many people pass through. If this was the Esplanade there would be a lot of media coverage.
