'Chuck Norris' type cold to kick our butts Thursday into Friday, area weatherman predicts
By adamg on Tue, 12/13/2016 - 9:31pm
Eric Fisher braces us for what could be record-setting "Chuck Norris level cold" Friday morning (not that Thursday will be that much better) - like maybe even sub-zero readings in some parts of southern New England (although he's looking at a few degrees above zero for Boston). Oh, but with wind chills down to -25 here.

F**K Chuck Norris
We have Charlie Baker and he has a winter plan that will not fail when we are waiting on frozen platforms for frigid trains with no heat and no windows because angry passengers have to use Bruce Lee moves to kick them out to escape from ICE STATION-T.
Canada Gander
What will all those silly people who started wearing their expensive and trendy Canada Goose parkas when low temps were in the upper 40s do now?
Actually, the more expensive parkas (per their website)
are rated to 15 degrees/5 below. So that should cover you (no pun intended) for most of our winter weather. Throw a few layers under that and they should be good to go on Friday.
It is faces, heads, hands and feet that need to be well insulated.
Acclimation counts
Wear those parkas when they aren't really needed and you will not be sufficiently accustomed to the cold to be comfortable in them at -5.
Dermatone
Duh.
Why the sour grapes?
Why the sour grapes?
Sour grapes?
Do you mean the several cases of good wine that I bought for the difference in price between my equally effective, if plebian 700 fill down coat and one of these trendy and chic jobbies?
I guess you could call it that.
I've always wondered about those
clearly I'm out of the know on what is trendy and upscale. But...isn't putting colored patches on the arms of your trendy jacket incredibly gauche?
Last winter I saw a couple such patches on the train and at first thought, "Oh, they were on some sort of Arctic expedition, that's cool." Then I saw more and more and realized no way had all of these people been on the same expedition.
But right. I am but a lowly $60 jacket wearer, but if I were to spend $700 on a jacket, I would want it to look elegant and subtle, not like an Explorer Club-themed jacket for a young kid. I guess I am out of step with the tastes of expensive jacket wearers.
Yup, it's the patch they're
Yup, it's the patch they're paying for
