Everybody was kung fu fighting: Jury convicts Randolph man for scheme to defraud DreamWorks over panda movies

Three pandas

Gordon's "drawing," DreamWorks drawing, Disney coloring-book drawing.

A federal jury today convicted Jayme Gordon, 51, on wire fraud and perjury charges for his attempt to force DreamWorks to pay him for what he claimed was his prior work on a story about a fighting panda.

The jury agreed with federal prosecutors that Gordon traced drawings from a Disney Lion King coloring book, then backdated them as part of an effort - that included filing a federal lawsuit in Boston - to make DreamWorks pay him millions in damages

Gordon - who in fact had come up with an idea for a panda that practices martial arts - also lied during his deposition in the civil case and destroyed computer files that might have disproved his claims, the US Attorney's office reports.

The jury found him guilty on four counts of wire fraud and three counts of perjury.

Gordon will be sentenced in March.

Dude just needed some help with drawing. I hate this outcome. Compare it to the Trump fraud trial for a sense of American "justice". Why wasn't this a civil case? How come Trump won't do time, but this poor schmuck will probably end up doing 100 years? Fraud is fraud, right? This country is all bullshit, all the time.
