At least it wasn't smoking, but train at Assembly was croaking

The MBTA says service on the Orange Line is back to normal after the "severe" delays caused by a train that acted like a cat that had already gone through nine lives at Assembly Square.

This morning:
It's no joke when a train begins to smoke.

- say a third track - that would allow them to bypass the station with other trains instead of totally disrupting service. Oh wait ...

that is currently in place between south of Community College and just north of Wellington, and was fully restored when the work at Assembly was completed. It has full connections with the northbound (outbound) track at both points. Never been used for revenue service, but could have been very helpful to redirect trains around a problem at Assembly.
