While
it's quite possible to dye animals with food dye such that they suffer no ill effects, it is possible this rooster was dyed orange for cockfighting. It would be much easier to distinguish the animals for betting purposes if they're dyed assorted colors.
Someone should be doing a little sleuthing around the neighborhood to see if there are any other Roosters of a Different Color somewhere.
