Poor ratings doom WBZ news director

Channel 4 has fired News Director Gary LaPlante, about a year and a half after it hired him away from Channel 25.

unwatchable
The 10 PM version on Channel 38 was ludicrous, a train wreck. Sports 10 minutes after the news starts. The topics that the anchors, sports and weather people would discuss gathered in front of the screen. Several people looked embarrassed and reluctant doing this. Pop music before the breaks. Since the news is the same on each station why would anyone subject themselves to this.
Sports
Sports is the worst, most boring segment of the news on any channel. It's sometimes fun to know what's going on and who is winning games, but it's hardly "need to know".
