Somerville Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a person walking around the Union Square area with handcuffs on:
Early this morning, during a federal law enforcement operation, an 18 year old male Somerville resident who is a known criminal MS 13 gang member escaped federal custody while being transported in Somerville. A search is currently underway by the Somerville Police Department and federal agencies. The suspect is not armed and was handcuffed when he escaped custody. While there is not believed to be a threat to the community, please be aware that there is a heightened law enforcement presence, particularly in the Union Square area.
Somerville and Transit Police briefly stopped commuter-rail trains at the Medford Street crossing around 10 a.m. so they could search the tracks behind the Gentle Giant building near there.
The Globe reports federal agents were targeting 56 gang members in Boston and its northern suburbs this morning for a variety of gun and drug violations.

and not the one who got away.

The other 56 don't pose any kind of threat to the general public. I thought that was always the first thing that comes to your poor mind.

I will never fear the feds again knowing a skinny teenager in cuffs was able to escape their grasp! hahaha
