Whats the purpose behind listing the amount of damage done?

Also its impressive to get a value of the damage 2 hours after the accident

Reporters, looking for an interesting soundbite, always ask the fire captain for an estimate of damage. The FD helpfully responds by pulling a number out of their ass.

Beyond a very rough estimate of the extent of the fire they have no idea how much water damage was done, what was destroyed, and how much will need to be gutted and rebuilt, etc. The numbers might be useful for comparison with other fires but these estimates are hardly worth paying attention to. The insurance adjusters have a good idea but they don't talk to the press.

Won't stop them from raising my homeowner's insurance next year.

...the actual Muddy River? The Cuyahoga?

Is it maybe time to flush the lines guys?

Ever seen when sprinklers go off in a building its worse than that water

My main concern is the safety and well being of the poor victims of this fire. I'm glad they survived and hope they get back on their feet quickly. Hopefully their will be a way to donate and help out. Living through things like this stay with one and what is needed is compassion for them. Speculation about random details (like why this scenario mainly seems to happen to those in poor inner city neighborhoods) is sort of missing the point of being human to a degree. I guess people with more concerns about objects than the well being of the victims is the future we have all created by the way these folks were raised. I doubt there are many who cry and pray for folks in situations like these but I know a few are out there. Let's remember how we would want to be treated. just my opinion which is meaningless in the face of their losses.....
