Teen charged with leading robberies of nine taxi, Uber drivers in Dorchester, Jamaica Plain

Boston Police report arresting a 17-year-old they say was the leader of a group of teens preying on taxi and Uber drivers in recent weeks.

The teen, not named because of his age, led robberies of seven drivers in the area of Dacia Street in Dorchester starting March 22, and two drivers in Jamaica Plain, police say. Typically, two or three teens would get in a car, ask to be driven a short distance, then rob the driver.

During the juvenile’s arrest on April 6, the suspect became combative, spitting on and kneeing the arresting officers.

That mean two charges of assault and battery on a police officer were added to his charges of unarmed robbery, police say.
