Two charged with Burke student's murder

Boston Police report the arrest of two men on charges they gunned down Raekwon Brown outside Burke High School on June 8 - one of them who was already considered an "armed career criminal" at age 18 five years ago.

Jonathan Aguasvivas, 23, of Roxbury and Benzy Bain, 24, of Mattapan, were arraigned on murder charges in Dorchester Municipal Court. They were ordered held without bail, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Police said more people could be charged.

Aguasvivas was officially charged as an "armed career criminal" when arrested for illegal gun possession at 18, in 2011 - because of his conviction for armed robbery in 2009. According to the DA's office, he served three years in prison, followed by two years of probation.

Three other people were shot as well; one of them said Brown pushed her out of harm's way just before he was fatally shot.

Because the investigation is ongoing, Suffolk County prosecutors provided few details about the shootings at today's arraignment, other than to say that surveillance videos and other evidence, including witness statements, led investigators to Augasvivas and Bain.

Innocent, etc.

According to the DA's office, the victim "opted not to take part in the prosecution and the case was dismissed on 5/26/15."

Many people are afraid to come forward and/or be witnesses becaue the police doesnt protect people after they have cooperated leaving them in the crosshairs of very violent criminals.

There was a comment in a previous post requesting a larger photo of Raekwon, since most of the media coverage has featured a small photo of him and larger photos of his alleged killers.

I found a slightly larger one here on the Herald's website. Can't figure out how to make it show up in this comment though.
