What the duck? Amphibious tourist craft storrows

Duck Boat in trouble on Storrow Drive

Shortly before 7 p.m. the driver of a Duck Boat learned first hand why Storrow Drive has those CARS ONLY sign, on the eastbound side, near Mass. Eye and Ear.

WBZ reports none of the 20 tourists on board was injured.

Naturally, that's the same exact spot where, only 3 1/2 hours earlier, Eastie Strong photographed a Storrowed U-Haul:

...for Duck's sake!

Yeah, too obvious, I know.

Thanks! So good - and obvious - I changed the headline.

Is the Frick featuring a selection of Dutch duck paintings of the 17th century?

What the duck were you thinking!

Don't these things have regular prescribed routes they do from start to finish? Why the hell would it be on Storrow where they never go?

This one had to detour because of a closed road. They don't usually go on Storrow Drive.

Oh the irony!! Can someone please photo-shop these U-haul trucks and replace the U-haul logo with storrow drive?

According to the Glob article, there was a diversion because Beacon St. was closed: http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2016/08/28/duck-boat-strikes-overpass-s...

Beacon Street is westbound. He struck the overpass going eastbound.

The stretch of Beacon between Charles and Bowdoin has 2-way traffic. The Duck Boats normally go down Boylston, left on Charles, right on Beacon, left on Bowdoin, left on Cambridge, right on Staniford...then towards the river or back to MOS...not sure where they go after Staniford.

Then to get back to Cambridge he thought he'd just sneak up Storrow one exit rather than go all the way around the Garden again and come up Arch St, etc.

I think the question you want to ask is...

Why a duck?

n/t

who said "Why a Duck", not Groucho.

I also think they should banned. Everytime I encounter them making that right from Cambridge St onto Staniford, they creep, creep, creep on pedestrians, while we have the right of way.

consider giving up your right of way

Get rid of these lunatic-driven vehicles that have obstructed ability to "see" pedestrians, but still menace them in their big quacking hurry.

Drivers do not own the roads. Behave or be gone.

So if everyone on Uhub persistently tells you to STFU will you consider giving up on your 1st Amendment Rights?

DIDN'T THINK SO

Has nothing to do with my first amendment rights. Go repeat the third grade, or whenever they teach you about who exactly guarantees which rights.

Re: right of way

You might have a 'legal' or 'lawful' right of way but part of existing in a civilized society that functions well is understanding when its beneficial to you or others to give up that right. There is a give and take, whether you're driving, cycling, walking, what have you.

Since you prefer to illustrate your points using constitutional amendments, I'll mention the second and say: just because you can, doesn't mean you should

that applies to asserting your right of way as well as most things in life

and driving lessons and co-pilots and all? How about "you must know Boston before you can drive this duckboat".

It's not like Storrowing is something new or happens infrequently.

Oh, I get it, the new on-board cameras are useless in this situation because they are underneath, not on top.

what the duck.
