They sent an e-mail to subscribers this morning noting the possibility of a late delivery "[d]ue to overnight production issues." My assumption is that the issue was a complete redesign of the paper starting at about 10:30 PM.

Retired people are more likely to still want to get a printed paper. And where do a lot of retired Bostonians move?
If anything...
The fact that they do put out a printed Florida edition shows that whatever "trouble" the Globe is in that you're referring to is vastly overstated.
But the real question is
Are retired people in Florida also subjected to receiving Globe Direct?
