Downtown Crossing finally getting that big-ass phone store it's so desperately needed

New AT&T store in Downtown Crossing, Boston

Gary Waldeck shows us what's going into the space where that bauble store used to be at Winter and Washington, adds:

And Cambridge thought there were too many pizza shops in Harvard square.

I recall a Sam Goody record store, but I'm sure that's at least two tenants ago.

Because the mega store they had a block away was too far from the action? Maybe the Wendy's can move back in now...

These places are just giant, staffed advertisments. Still cheaper than an ad buy during the Patriots regular season, and you can't miss it.

The other spot had the floor collapse and the building was found to be structurally unsound. That's why they closed. Then they moved into the small space which was smaller than Verizon's thus the bigger than Verizon super store!

Damnit! I was hoping for another bank or hair & nail salon.

Should we take bets to see how long this one stays open.. they moved to the Wendy's location, and then moved back to their original location..

It was open for maybe a month or so?

My real question is how long will Forever 21 remain closed?

Just kidding. Don't care.

There used to be a flower stand on that corner, also.

That small building on the left behind the light post is a flower stall, still open.

Are you thinking of a different one?

For a short while that flower stand was a mini police station/kiosk staffed by Boston Police, but it came and went awfully fast.

What's worse in a retail space, more banks or more phone stores? Ughh

Because they're both signs of how inefficient and wasteful our society has become.h

that AT&T cell coverage is mediocre at best in DTX.

... Which is now AT&T, of course, when I dropped yet another call. But this particular one was in front of a giant Cingular billboard at Fenway Park bragging about how good their service was. Switched carriers the next day.

As much as I hate the idea that Downtown Crossing is going to be even less interesting, this store had the worst customer service ever.

I watched a worker yell at a little kid for touching a mannequin with a tacky body chain on it: "UM THAT COSTS FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS" maybe don't put it next to the front door then geniuses?

The selection of jewellery wasn't even that great.
