Unfortunately, murders in Roxbury, Mattapan and Dorchester have long been the norm. I believe the Japanese embassy even warned its citizens to stay away from there. Two doctors having their throats slashed in a million dollar Southie condo as a direct result of prosecutorial and judicial misconduct is not the norm. Thankfully, the Herald and talk radio are finally looking into it.

To reduce a charge from armed bank robbery and a potential life sentence (he threatened to shoot and had time to dispose of the weapon) to simple larceny from a person is outrageous. Then to intentionally give a 364 day sentence because 365 would cause deportation is worse. Sadly, that seems to be the norm too as few are outraged. 20 years ago, both papers would be investigating the malfeasance and the rift between Conley and Evans. They would be calling on the State Senate to remove the judge. Today? Crickets.

Right on Fish - although it's a regular occurrence on UHub to have a thread over 100 posts long with outrage over trump's impact on minorities, or the Fenway racist idiot - but zero comments on minorities actually being killed in our neighborhoods. People a quick to jump in with comments that will "change the world, and aid the resistance" yet few of the progressive and concerned readers ever seem to comment on the tragic loss of people in our neighborhoods to senseless violence - like almost never.

Somehow we can get thousands of SJWs to March for just about anything these days - and bus them in from Wellesley by the hundreds. But I can't seem to recall the last time there was a "Stop Violence In Boston" march on the Common. You know, the one that honors the scores of victims actually killed by violence and their grieving families? hmmm, when was that again?

Some of those incidents are in my own neighborhood and I click them hoping to get some perspective, but I can't often comment. I get the feeling people sometimes just don't know what to say. Not out of complacency necessarily, but maybe out of respect. Sometimes we have no answer. Pretending to is an offense to victims and families. You're right that people are quick to give answers when a story fits a narrative they feel they know well, but I don't think a lack of responses is always indicative of a lack of empathy.

What is the value of the number of comments?

Look at the comments on the Harvard lawsuit. None of them have anything to do with the actual story. What would a bunch of comments about a guy stabbed to death in Dorchester look like? Nothing good or relating to the victim or the actual incident, for sure.

Look at the comments up to now attached to this story. They are about the lack of comments. Kind of pointless in a way.

Any other thoughts about these unfortunate souls?
