The Yiddish Book Center in Amherst has compiled some oral histories of vertical shtetls, Blue Hill Avenue and, of course, Leonard Nimoy's West End.

Thank you so much for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing! I love hearing stories like this. When I go to some of the older homes in Dot/Mattapan I often see Mezuzahs in doorways, a great deal of the churches have the Star of David, reminding me of what the neighborhood was once like. My grandmother attended Dorchester High for girls, most of her classmates were Jewish, her classmates taught her quite a few songs (and she still remembers them!)
Such rich history. Thanks again.

We need a Spock/West End statue over there to commemorate the history of the destroyed neighborhood and also what his iconic character meant to so many.
The statue of the giant
The statue of the giant spaceship at Government Center isn't enough for you?
Oh, that's City Hall?
West End
Have you seen the West End Museum? They have done a great job of preserving the history of this neighborhood: http://thewestendmuseum.org/
