J-Pizzle in Jamaica Plain

Meredith Sandiford brings us the shocking news that not only is the Robinwood Cafe on Centre Street in JP gone, it's being replaced by something not even a Snoop Dog fan could love.

One of the new owners thinks J-Pizzle is a common nickname for Jamaica Plain. He must be from the Chest.

That's Robinwood, not Robinhood.

Really! I've eaten there, and I thought about the name as I pounded out my exhaustive one-paragraph post and yet I still managed to get it wrong. Gah! Fixed.

that that Urban Dictionary definition was helpfully supplied by one "jpaul nizzle". Don't believe everything you read, son.

True. Noticed that after I posted.

And it's not "son", son. Daughter maybe, but... no.

In the spirit of Foghorn Leghorn, I call all anons "son", as a precaution. Because you never know.

Are they going for the boom boom crowd, Those wondrous folks who bring to every neighborhood they ride through the joy of unnecessary noise.

I'll pass.

But what's with the name and form change of Centre Street Cafe. Are they taking booms to another level?

RACISM IS AT THE WORST. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW NASTY PEOPLE ARE NOT TO GIVE PEOPLE A CHANCE WITH OUT KNOWING THE REASON TO THE BACK GROUND .. BUT OF COURSE HATERS WILL ALWAYS HATE.

The hero of Jude the Obscure meets his future wife when she throws a pig's "pizzle" at him.

Yes, it's just what it sounds like.

This is clearly a Tom Haverford and Jean-Ralphio joint.

That's just ... sad.

J-pizzle sounds like a painful condition to be certain.

Pizzle is the word for animal penis. I get the desire to sound hip and put 'J-pizzle' for jamaica plain, but you're literally calling your place a penis. You want people to come eat at your penis kitchen.

This is quite possibly the worst/most clueless name for a restaurant I've yet to see.

This place will not last. The name makes me lose my appetite. What were they thinking? Or were they thinking at all??

they were thinking about all the minorities who will help the business flourish. We don’t want your kind anyway.

Isn't that the rapper who started out rapping about killing cops and leads women around on leashes?
That can't be the same guy who now has a game show and gets applause when he's introduced.
Noooooo it can't be

Breaking news:

Eric Clapton didn't shoot the sheriff.

And Johnny Cash never shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.

Good god....give me my JP back (I'm talking the 70's and 80s).

I had the best burger I've had in awhile, best conversations with the owner, and most of these comments are racist prejudice, everyone here knows that Jamaica Plain is JPizzle as a nickname. Get over yourselves.

This is a family owned and run business by a Jamaica plain resident of more than 35 yrs her children were born and raised in jp and she works and owns real estate in jp and is a very well known and highly respected business woman... let's stop with the negative connotations and give them a chance to continue to provide the neighborhood with quality food and service.

the comments are disgusting and I hope the business owner knows the minority community in Boston 100000% behind this. This isn’t “your” JP, losers.

I concur 100 percent. The food is outstanding and even higher quality than it was previously and it was good then but now its got that pizzazz and rightfully so! Thanks for making it better than before!
