Gleaming in the night at Forest Hills

New Orange Line headhouse at Forest Hills

Forest Hills and Arborway chronicler Clay Harper took a walk around the Forest Hills MBTA station last night to look at the additions, including the new entrance across the Arborway from the main station and the new upper busway and its all important canopies.

They look close to done - but will they be finished by the end of the year as once promised? And for us members of the Society of the Easily Annoyed, will they move the "T" in the logo up a bit so it doesn't look like it's about to fall out of the circle?

What was supposed to be done in what, 2016?, will now finish in 2019. Embarrassing. The bike lane isn't done either. Any infrastructure for T users, pedestrians or cyclists will always be ridiculously behind schedule and completed way after car infrastructure. Precious Joe and Jill SUV must not be inconvenienced!

There has been plenty of inconvenience for drivers during this project. And transit riders. And pedestrians. And cyclists.

This bicyclist thinks everything should only cater to bikes. As a multi-modal transportation user in this city I'm just glad forest hills is no longer a death trap for bikers, at least not on the Washington Street side, the HP ave side is still scary. I'd reasonably complain about that if I were Kinopio. As a driver there, I'm happy all of this construction is done and lanes are open.

In fall 2017, they said that the winter of 2017-18 would be the last one bus riders would endure with the temporary busway.

Happy first day of winter!

You know it’s weird when Kinopio and I agree on something, but ditto on his comment (this time.)

what four years among friends?
also way over budget and the new traffic pattern stinks.
a big win all around.
BTW 10 days left for the new orange line car to beat the 2018 deadline.

Leave the Porta Potty, keep the traffic cones.

Rumor has it that the new Upper Busway canopy and bus bays are permanently OPEN FOR BUSINESS as of tonight (Friday). You can come in out of the rain. And on the first day of "Winter" too!

I was off today, but Mrs. Waquiot used it coming home from work tonight. She had a good review of it, and seeing as it was raining for the PM rush hour, it faced a test tonight and passed.

It barely made winter. It’s like the contractors were aiming from not only the day, but saw that winter didn’t start until after 5:30 in the evening.
