Carpundit spotted these dragons on Marlborough Street in the Back Bay today.

Still not as scary as the tacky frontage near 9 Dwight St., which is there all year round (minus the cobwebs). I feel bad for the neighbors who have to look at that every day.

Seeing those on Marlborough Street on Halloween? meh!

I'VE seen them on Marlborough Street in June!

I was doing a "potent potables pilgrimage" - visiting the locations in early Spenser novels and trying to keep up with him drink for drink. By the time I reached his apartment on Marlborough Street, I was seeing red dragons, pink elephants, honest politicians....

I'm doing much better now... the nice people at the liver clinic took away my library card.

The Neighborhood Association doesn't approve or disapprove of seasonal decorations, although they encourage festivity, especially along the established safe route for trick-or-treating on Marlborough Street, where the dragons are. Thanks to the efforts of the Neighborhood Association, the street will be blocked to traffic, volunteers will be out making sure the barriers stay in place, and there will be lots of happy kids, parents, and parties this evening.

Somehow, I get the feeling this isn't what you were hoping to hear.

I just walked down Marlborough and it was great. Tons of elaborate decorations and costumes. And no speeding drivers to run over kids. Every neighborhood should have a set up like this.
