The local newspaper in Yerington, Nevada (population about 3000) is the Mason Valley News. Slogan: "The Only Paper In The World That Gives A Damn About Yerington"
The family that owned and published the MVN sold it to the Reno Gannett paper. I can't even get the folks in Reno to tell me how to renew my subscription - so I haven't read the MVN in a couple of years now.
When, for example, women were treated much worse in the workplace, and, when one spoke up, instead of acknowledging that and working to change it, people would make smug, dismissive quips, and others would laugh (upvote).
Read the story again am I missing something? The Wellesley Police had to dispatch a unit from patrolling the mean streets of Wellesley to return to the station to handle this situation. What were the police who were inside the police station doing while the fists were flying?

More than you really want to know about Wellesley, Mass.
I’ve never seen a more true newspaper motto.
And that’s before I ever read a story.
Reminds me

Why do reports mention the genders of people?
Will saying "a female individual reported" someday sound as odd as saying "a white individual reported"?
Saying genders is another thing that leads to prejudging.

?
Why do reports mention the species of people?
Why do reports?
And this is why social progress is hard

Too tough a neighborhood for him.
