Another vote for the 6 House

Talonvaki made a point of going to 6 House last night and writes that she is impressed that bar workers were trying to save Adam Rich's life while police were still putting on rubber gloves and that before Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis suggests the bar be shut, he might want to look at his department's performance in the area:

...[T]here's a police station almost across the street from the 6 House. If there have been two stabbings in a month, well...shouldn't that reflect on the cop shop more than the establishments? Wouldn't you tend to think that, with a police station in the neighbourhood, crime would be lower on average? Somehow, I think they're more to blame than the ghost of Whitey Bulger.

Whatever. I am so glad we went tonight. I love that place...perhaps more now than ever.

She seems to think he got what he deserved. I'm not sure who deserves to be stabbed like that. And if he was really drinking since noon, he must have been in a pretty inebriated state, so why did the good, upstanding people at the Six House continue to serve him?

people get drunk, act stupid and people get hurt.the police station is across the street and they were supposed to do what? all they are responsible for is making sure everyone is out of there at closing.bars are supposed to hire their own security.what neighbourhood are you from?

we'll see when something happens to some southie scum. Then i'll love going into that place more than ever. And the BeerGarden. And Murphys. The Departed wasn't real. Whitey isn't here to save you all. Not that he would anyway. You all know who you are. And you better hope you are watching each others backs. Because maybe i'm watching yours.

Really you need to grow the fuck up... Southie Scum, please get on with your life.... It doesn't matter were you are from, there are losers in every city or town and there is one bad apple in every bunch... Everyone thinks they are a hard ass whatever... but don't blame something that happened in SOUTHIE on a SOUTHIE person.... and don't worry ALL US SOUTHIE PEOPLE BORN AND RAISE we do watch out for each other and watch our backs....
Don't be mad because you didn't get a part in the departed.... There will be more movies to come... The 6 House is a good place to go and it will be back cause us southie people get what we want....

Jen, did you actually click through to the entire post?

If you did, you'd see the poster wasn't saying that he loved the 6 House more because someone died there, but because of the actions of the employees in trying to save Adam's life.

Hold on folks.....

The word around town is Adam Rich was quite a bully himself. Before he landed at the 6 house he was booted out of the Southie Yacht Club and The Playright for starting trouble (word is he was walking around in a wife beater flexing his muscles and staring patrons down).

His Myspace page got littered by a few irate folks from Revere claiming he got what he deserved. Apparently, Adam liked to throw his weight around and was notorious for throwing sucker punches and starting fights.

The spilled drink theory seems like a crock of sh&t to me.

While Adam's behavior (if true) was cowardly.... it's still no reason for him to have lost his life. And my heart does truely go out to his loved ones.

My question, if warranted....Why would this kid walk into a South Boston bar and decide to be a hard ass?

It's as foolish as a whiteboy like myself walking into Roxbury and shouting the N word thinking I could knock out anyone who stood in my path.

Growing up in these parts taught me never to go looking for trouble....even though I feel I can handle myself properly if needed....it's for defense....that's it. You never know who you might be starting trouble with and if they will fight toe to toe....fairly.

The days of settling your differences with some man to man fisticuffs then shaking hands after are over. It's quite sad, but foolish to think otherwise.

No matter how much you lift at the gym or how invincible you may feel....there's always some sociopath willing and able to take you out.
