The bonsai collection at the Arnold Arboretum runs on a different time scale

One of the miniature trees in the Arboretum's bonsai collection is 167 years old. And the Arboretum itself, of course, has a 1,000-year lease with the city of Boston. Steve Schneider, who oversees the 43 trees in the collection, is mindful of the long timeframes, the Harvard Gazette reports:

We’re a 1,000-year institution, so if someone says to me, 'You'll be long dead before it goes on display,' that’s OK with me.

Boston enjoys some incredible and amazing public riches. For a small city there is an incredible wealth.
