Channel 25 news: Dumbing down Boston as fast as it can

Charley on the MTA feels his brain melting every time he watches, like last night, when the lead story was, no, not mayhem in the Hub or even the Sox, but the identity of Anna Nicole Smith's babydaddy:
... We're all screwed, folks. There's no way they could be foisting this utter moronilicious stupidosity on us, unless they were hiding something really big from us. I'm expecting a meteor.
I don't ever, ever, ever want to hear about how bloggers have no credibility. That may be true, or not true, but we're just not first on the list of the damned -- not even close.

Admittedly, neither does complaining about it online, but at least it shows someone who's keeping their eyes and ears open to the media around 'em, rather than surrounding themselves with only the News Provider They Agree With.

Red Sox win a home opener blowout.
Mayor Menino proposes the biggest budget increase in 5 years, which would give nearly $7 million to the police department and add 100 new police officers to help combat the rise in homicides in the city.
Give me ONE good reason why the identity of a dead celebrity's baby's father, pure celebrity gossip and nothing else, with absolutely no connection to Boston or Massachusetts at all, should trump ANY important local news and be reported as the Top Story Of The Night by a news station which promises live, local news coverage that's important to the people of Boston and the Commonwealth.
G'wan, take your time. We'll be here, though I'll be heading out for dinner sometime around 7:00 tonight or so.
Not quite as bad but ...
It's annoying to watch Harvey Leonard pleasuring himself with detailed weather reports from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan or Dubuque or, really, any place west of the Berkshires just because he gets off on severe weather. Even worse than watching Ed Harding point to videos of cows that have fallen into ditches in California ("look, you can see the cow's legs there, and watch as they hook that crane to that bell around her neck ...")
Why would anyoe turn to TV for local news...

You're missing my point. Who gives a shit who the father of Anna Nicole's baby is? Personally, I don't care if it was Charles Manson, Ted Kennedy or Bat Boy.
If local TV coverage is important to someone and they don't like what's on, change the goddamned channel.
That stupid Anna Nicole story was all over the national news too. Since I don't give a rat's ass, I ignored it. And if I had seen it on 25, I would have ignored that as well.
Sheesh, get some perspectuve people!

At least Fox 25 doesn't use alliteration like it's going out of style like 7 News does...
