Decades of Doyle's memorabilia up for sale Wednesday morning - and fryolators

Old menu at Doyle's

Going, going, soon to be gone.

The now closed Doyle's Cafe in Jamaica Plain will become an auction house Wednesday morning. For sale: Most of the stuff on the walls of the now former neighborhood landmark, along with most of its tables, chairs, booths and kitchen and bar equipment.

Inspections of posters, murals, clocks, signs and phone booths begins at 9 a.m., with bidding scheduled to start at 11 a.m.

If you want to bid, you'll need to bring cash, a certified check or a letter from your bank swearing you have enough to cover a regular check. Plus, you'll have to put up $200 up front to be able to bid - although that's refundable.

Why haven't developers thought of that already? What an opportunity! Gracious Downtown living in a major public transportation hub close to the waterfront...
the units will practically sell themselves!!!
