That Hopkinton family's Web site

Rachel, Neil and Lillian - Don't click on the Lillian Rose link if you don't want to get really sad.

In the media-criticism angle, raspberries to bostonherald.com for running an entire story about the site without linking to it. Update: They've since added a link. Channel 4 linked to the site in its online story. So did Channel 5. Even the Globe (yes, the Globe) linked to the site. WBZ-AM has the link, although not clickable. Channel 7 did not link to the site, but what do you expect from them?

My standard newspaper-disclosure link.

I'm with you on this one, Adam, and I too have a relationship with the Globe. It's not really about that. There's an interesting discussion to be had here about linking to this sort of site. It's my position that news shouldn't hide facts, and if they are going to report on the site then disclose the URL. I know the argument will be one of whether or not the link is appropriate - but it's my decision that publishing it is an important component of the story.

Adam,
I do link to the Hopkinton family's Web site in my blog ... Your Town Tonight ... which is on the Herald Web site along with the MetroWest & Town Online sites. I linked to it early this morning and, dare I say, well before others did.

Could you take back that raspberry?

Thanks, Joe

Hey, Joe!

I see bostonherald.com has now added a sidebar link to the family site. So raspberry retracted.

Kudos to getting the link up first, although to be honest, when I initially went to bostonherald.com this morning, it wasn't above the fold, so to speak, so all I saw was the (initially unlinked) news story.
