Just one arrest during post-Bowl festivities: Alleged tree-climbing doofus from LA

Boston Police report arresting a BU student from Los Angeles last night after, they say, he refused to come down from a tree in the Common.

The suspect was advised multiple times to climb down off of the tree, but the suspect gave officers the middle finger before continuing his ascent up the tree. The suspect kicked multiple branches off of the tree while drinking an alcoholic beverage. The suspect eventually was removed from the tree and taken into custody.

Vincent Bredice was charged with malicious destruction of property, distrubing the peace and drinking in public, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Typical for that ilk.

You have to be a monumental asshole to actually get arrested during these celebrations. We let a lot of things slide and give people multiple opportunities to NOT get arrested. We are just as happy as you are the Pats won and the vast majority of you are respectful. This kid.. not so much.

Thank you BPD for saving us from malicious tree climbers, they are truly a menace to society

If the limb snapped and the whole tree had to be cut down youd be complaining about cops sitting in cruisers.

Besides, if the kid fell and cracked his head there's a non zero chance his parents would try to sue.

Go find a hobby.

My hobby is climbing trees.

But also: we are really arguing that tree climbing ought be a police issue? Really? Did you never climb a tree in your youth?

*disingenuous argument alert*

But seriously, keeping order is actually part of the official charge. No?

You can climb trees - your own trees. I've seen plenty of "youths" climbing trees that aren't meant to be climbed on, and doing considerable damage. Go find a climbing wall.

No one said this person was a menace to society. He was destroying public property though.

At least they didn't kill another student by shooting them in the eye with a crowd control bullet . Progress!

BPD didn't circle the wagons, actually looked at their procedures and plan of action, and have managed these crowds wonderfully since after that unfortunate night.

Can't say the same for many organizations in other cities that bunker down and resist learning from their mistakes.

The dumbass was doing damage to the tree, breaking branches and likely to come down on some other idiot's head.

Embrace them, comrade.

I mean the Common is one of the nation's oldest publicly-held greenspaces, sooo.

But yeah, property is violence, v v true

...because it's a "publicly-held greenspace", some douchebro fratboy is entitled to trash the "green" part of it? Tell me how that works.

Specifically what is it about a Patriots victory that makes a person want to climb a tree?

Nothing, but booze and being a male under 26 is another issue.

I was once a male under 26 (a randomly arrived at number if ever there was one) and never once did I have the inclination to climb a tree, drunk or otherwise, when a sports team won anything of note. Is this apparent trait you speak of only built into some males?

Learn it. It'll help.
