Little dog on Columbia Road in Dorchester was not stolen, police now say

Boston Police have retracted their BOLO for a Shih Tzu and the woman they initially said stole her from in front of the Columbia Road Dollar store.

"No charges are expected to be filed in regards to this incident," because the dog was not stolen and is back with her owner, police say.

Editor's note: In turn, I've in turn taken down my post based on the BPD's first report, because it unfairly blames a woman for something police say she didn't do.

You've created so much mischief in her life, it's the least that you can do.

HOW DARE YOU REPORT SOMETHING THAT BOSTON PD PUT OUT TO THE MEDIA!

(taking down the post seems like an appropriate response)

Or, and I'm just spit-ballin' here, the BPD could apologize to the dog. It would make as much sense, and it would be really cute.

I'd be thankful local sites were trying to get my dog back as opposed to not posting anything distributed by the police on the basis they are sometimes wrong.

No one was ever accused by name. They said they were looking for an unknown person and later, they are no longer looking.

What actually happened?....

Guessing the person that took the dog brought it to a shelter, police, or the owner's address in a timely fashion and thought it was lost/abandoned rather than trying to steal it.

They even went so long as to post a picture of the non-perpetrator.
