Local doctor to expose himself on the Web
By adamg on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 1:56pm
John Halamka, over at Beth Israel, will be posting his personal medical info and DNA details on the Web around 4 p.m. today:
As part of the PGP's first 10 participants, I contributed my entire medical record, phenotype, and genotype in the hope that this data will support research to enhance personalized medicine for future patients.
You can already read about his genetic history.

Can I PGP encode mine?
As a privacy-aware geek, it's highly amusing to call it PGP.
They do have quite a nice study site; even the easily-findable public Considerations about participating in the study are fairly detailed already, and I'm sure actually filling out the consent forms will have plenty more things to consider, like some rouge researcher stealing your DNA to do... something. (Unlikely, I think.) I do fault them for still stating "New enrollment begins in early 2008."
Note that if the study expansion to 100,000 individuals proceeds as planned, you may be able to get your DNA sequenced for free! (They ask for donations.)
