Man convicted of sexual attacks on teens at a DYS facility captured in Brockton after fleeing sentencing

Boston Police report arresting Hermano Joseph, 28, of Randolph, ten months after he removed his GPS device and fled after his conviction on charges that he and three other workers at a former DYS facility on Long Island routinely beat their teenage charges' naked buttocks with orange sandals.

Police report the BPD fugitive unit tracked Joseph down to an address in Brockton - and add that in addition to the indecent-assault-and-battery conviction, he faces new charges of armed carjacking and armed robbery during his time on the lam.

The arrest came as a result of collaborative investigation that began in December of 2018 when the suspect fled the state after being convicted in Suffolk Superior Court. Over the course of the past 10 months, members of the BPD Fugitive Unit tracked the suspect to locations in several states before finally placing him in custody today in Brockton.

The other three workers at the former Casa Isla facility did not run off; one was sentenced to sentences ranging from six months to 2 1/2 years in jail.
