Flaherty doesn't need to prove to me that he can get random people's support, he needs to prove that he can run the city and improve residents' lives -- none of which he's even touched on.

He points out problem after problem (many of which seems like spin without context) but he offers no plan and I have not confidence that he actually has a plan and can do even as good as the Mayor has done for our city.

I'm all about change and hope -- but those are just words until you put them into practice. Yes the Mayor's been here for 16 years, but he has affected positive change for this city all along the way.

I'm proud to support the only progressive choice in this race: Mayor Menino.

McCrea's not a "random person" he's the fourth highest vote getter in the preliminary. Add the votes of McCrea, Yoon and Flaherty in the preliminary and you're within 700 votes of Menino.

What makes the endorsement even more interesting is the hostory of McCrea's successful lawsuit of open meeting law violations against Flaherty. That water over the dam, McCrea would still endorse Flaherty over Menino.

I would say that third parties who are respected such as Blue mass group disagree. Read the endorsement. They say his issue papers read like presidential issues papers and they are better than most of the senate candidates.

If this race were about only new ideas Flaherty would win in a landslide. Check out his website and compare the issue papers of both candidates and tell me who has better ideas for Boston.

Floon has/have committed to getting rid of the BRA and increased transparency - that's the bottom line for Kevin - when you live in a glass house, it's hard to do anything without everyone knowing and we need to be able to see the process, not just the outcome.

He's also endorsing Selvig over Ciommo for Brighton (and Kulikowski who I know next to nothing about) because of his stance on dissolving the BRA, like Flaherty.

I am leaning towards Selvig over Ciommo too (although I have a feeling I'll be spitting into the wind on election day). However, Alex's campaign office had been calling and hanging up on me for like 3 days straight this past weekend...on my cell phone no less. Monday night, they finally picked up on their end after auto-dialing me to tell me about Selvig and I explained that if they call me again, I'm changing my vote. I haven't gotten a call since (fingers crossed).

The difference between Kevin McCrea's endorsement and the so-called "progressive" endorsements that Menino flaunts is that Kevin has nothing to gain and wasn't pressured into anything. He could have stayed out of it, but he didn't. It's clear from the timing of this that Kevin carefully considered the two choices for mayor, and he came to the conclusion that Flaherty was the better choice.

JP Gazette, October 9

Yoon leaped in with negative comments about the value of a McCrea endorsement.

“Campaign [and] political experts will tell you, you can put the name Donald Duck on the ballot and you’d get the same number of votes as McCrea…It’s sort of the ‘screw you’ vote,” Yoon said. “But there are tons of people out there who believe the same things Kevin does, but are willing to work with government to make that happen.”

Or maybe McCrea just thinks Menino's worse than the guy he spent several years suing.

I also heard that Shirley Kressel will be supporting and helping Flaherty/Yoon on election day.

The Menino people can say what they want, this is a big statement from two INDIVIDUALS who have been fighting for this city for years.

They know what I know, Flaherty/Yoon is best for our city.

Here's the source for what Anon is saying. I'm not seeing any unity of vision between Flaherty, Yoon, King, Flynn, and McCrea.

Oh, wait. They all dislike Menino for wildly varied reasons. That's right. Of course, they're all going to discover that Old Pol Baby Flats can play just as sweet a tune as anyone else, but it's the same old song.
