Orange Line's got you coming and going, we need more new trains to keep it from blowing
By adamg on Fri, 11/15/2019 - 5:21pm
On the heels of delays in the morning rush, the MBTA now reports delays of up to 15 minutes on the Orange Line due to a train at Green Station with brakes that just refuse to unclench or something.

Ok, that explains the
Next Train to Oak Grove in 20 Minutes message I heard getting off the Green Line about 5:30.
Any of you businesses out
Any of you businesses out there , whether small or big, getting fed up with your employees not getting to work on time because of the MBTA? How about students? Anyone? All this weekend work on the Orange Line tracks, what is it supposed to correct? Fuck you powers that be. Fuck you.
Track work doesn’t help
When the trains are failing.
And to be clear, it is important to do track work. When the old trains are replaced, we will still have delays if there are issues with switches, signals, and track. Still, both problems today were with 40 year old trains.
So since the track work
So since the track work project is almost done on the Orange Line, are you saying the new trains will soon be working? I haven't seen any new trains during my morning and evening commute to Forest Hills. I only rode 2 times on one in the summer, then I never saw one again. No straight solid answers from MBTA website. Forget about the public's access to a human. The workers I"ve asked say they don't know.
The two are not linked at all
There are currently two sets of new trains on the Orange Line. I've ridden on both of them, and only during rush hours. I'm kind of underwhelmed by them, but at least they shouldn't be having the problems the old trains have.
As for the MBTA's website, if you are interested in the Orange Line, start here and there will be a quick link to this, which explains other Orange Line work to be done.
It's funny
Every year they trot out stories about how much productivity businesses lose on the day after the Super Bowl, or the day everyone fills out their NCAA brackets. But I don't remember seeing anyone ever crunch the numbers on how much we lose to MBTA failures, or for that matter, how much of the workforce comes in in the morning already exhausted and psychologically wrecked by having to rely on the T just to get across town.
Magoo aez
Magoo just peeled an orange. Mmmmm. Magoo.
