Cambridge man charged with Port gunfire; was aiming at car, but missed the people inside, police say

Cambridge Police report arresting Sage Ballard, 19, of Cambridge, this morning, on charges he repeatedly shot at a car with two occupants at Harvard and Portland streets last night.

Police say he hit the car but that neither of the people inside were hit.

Ballard was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, police say.

Police Commissioner Branville Bard Jr. praised community members who provided tips that helped lead police to Ballard, who added that Boston Police also aided in the investigation.
