Darryl Willis was more than just somebody who died while riding a bicycle through Harvard Square

Rev. Laura Everett and Frank Willis

Bicyclist's father chokes up during ceremony.

Greg Cook attended the weekend unveiling of a "ghost bike" in Harvard Square for Darryl "Pikachu" Willis, 55, who died Aug. 18 in a collision with a truck while riding his bicycle on Massachusetts Avenue in Harvard Square.

The Boston bicycling community places white bikes at every location where a bicyclist died.

Among those at Willis's ceremony were Rev. Laura Everett, herself an avid bicyclist and a member of the local ghost-bike group, and Willis's father, Frank, who drove up from North Carolina for the ceremony.

Darryl Willis's daughter recalled her father as "a character," and said. "He had a lot more living. You could tell."

I prefer to think of people as human beings first and foremost rather than saying they were an ___ist to suit a particular group's agenda. Please think of this gentleman's friends and family before exploiting his tragic death. The victim was a bicyclist to bike advocacy groups, but really and more importantly he is a son, father, husband, brother, friend, neighbor, loved one. RIP.

Thinking of human beings as human beings, my, that makes you unique and places you firmly on the moral high ground above all others, fully entitled to snark down on anyone who would remember the deceased based on their personal connection to them, through a shared pastime, perhaps. Lesser beings do that! Not you. You are above it all and beside the point.

Seriously, get a hold of yourself. You're condemning others for an "agenda" while grinding a mighty fine ax yourself.
