Fire on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan displaces 18

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to 1220 Blue Hill Ave., a three decker near Woolson Street, in Mattapan for what turned into a two-alarm fire.

The department reports 18 people and a dog were safely evacuated from the fire, in which rear porches on the second and third floors were engulfed in flames.

The department estimates damage at $350,000. The cause is under investigation.
